Good day all !

Nebraska is my second US state where i run a formal marathon after Hawaii. I ran a 60K in New York but it was an Ultra.

I have another 48 states to add to my collection. I should add New York, officially this time, in November.

We visited Omaha for my son’s birthday and to have some fun with running. He ran the 10K with my wife, my daughter ran the half marathon, as part of her training for a full in December in Honolulu and I ran a full marathon to get ready for my winter races.

The organization by HITS was OK. The attendance for the half marathon was quite large. Fewer people ran the marathon.

We started at 7:00 a.m. by 13C with no wind. The weather warmed up slowly after the sun rise. I finished 233rd in 5:48. I paced my daughter till 11.5 K, the turn around for the half, I then pursued North then East and South towards the old branch of the Missouri which is delimitating a strange perimeter belonging to Iowa on Nebraska’s side of the river.

We ran through Omaha North area, with many small houses, which seemed in need of a bit of paint sometime. The full loop was not really scenic or crossing historical places. The volunteers and Omaha police did a great job to support the few runners.

I went through half way point in 2:36. I suffered and slowed down almost immediately from that point. I need more endurance and training. However, I really enjoyed my 14th marathon, a good training for my coming New York City marathon in November.

Omaha, do not coast but set the pace.
