A great run with Evelyne for her second 10K ever, 5 days after the previous one. In Central Park, the long loop:
From the NYRR website:
The course is slightly more than one lap of Central Park’s six-mile loop.
Mile 1: Start on West Drive near 62nd Street and head north; there is a moderate uphill near the end of the first mile.
Mile 2: Continue through a series of rolling hills as you pass the Reservoir.
Mile 3: Pass the 102nd Street Transverse on your right and ascend, then descend Harlem Hill; continue past Lasker Rink.
Mile 4: Climb another hill as you run south on East Drive; pass the 102nd Street Transverse again and climb a small hill. At the 4-mile mark, you’ll see the bronze Fred Lebow statue on your right.
Mile 5: Continue south and pass the Metropolitan Museum of Art on your left and Cleopatra’s Needle on your right. Descend Cat Hill (the Still Hunt statue will be on your right) and climb a slight rise right at the 5-mile mark.
Mile 6: Pass the 72nd Street Transverse and continue around the bottom of the park to the finish at 67th Street on West Drive; this is also the TCS New York City Marathon finish line!
We went slightly slower in the hills than last week.
We finished in 1:20:46, a 13 minutes per mile pace, 7691th overall, 4154th men, 445th in my age group.
