Many things are on my mind.
1- I’m not ready, but I’m usually not ready anyway.
2- I’m not sure I can beat my Honolulu time.
3- At least, I’ll try.
I know I can finish if I cross the departure line. So, my challenge will be to get there.
I need to train a little bit more the next two weeks, then rest, for real, for another two weeks, bring down my weight by 2 kilograms (3 or 4 would be nice), fly to Tokyo, pick up my bib and then go to the departure line. I don’t want snow or rain, I want a nice sunshine, 8-9 degrees at the depature area where we stand for one hour before starting our procession to the departure line that we’ll cross after 15 minutes (we need a water point before the start for blocks J-K-L at the back of the pack).
Then, I’ll be in for a great ride. Shinjuku, Ichigaya, Iidabashi, Kanda, the Imperial Palace, Hibiya Koen, Shinbashi, Zozoji and its red doors, turn around at Shinagawa, up to Ginza, Asakusabashi, Asakusa Senso-ji, down to Ginza again, then Kabukiza, and all the bridges to Toyosu, Ariake and Big site.
I’ll struggle, walk and have cramps. But i’ll finish it. Again.
