Honolulu marathon T-1 : after one week in Hawaii, I think I’m ready for the marathon. It is an early start, at five o’clock in the morning to avoid as much as possible the sun heat! A lot of runners are gathering for the race, as much as 35,000 !!!
We hiked on the island to Diamond Head, Koko crater and up to Na Ala Hele Pauoa flat trail after visiting Manoa falls. Diamond crater was a short hike up the crater above Waikiki beach, a bit crowded. Koko crater is a hard core straight line up the crater on a old train line. Manoa falls are a famous spot, easily reachable and crowded. To go up the view point above Nuuanu valley is a one hour hike uphill among bamboos and Indian ficus trees. Very rewarding.
We had a great week, enjoyed food and drinks. I’m all set on my race 🙂 if we have rain, I can do a good time. If the sun comes in, I may suffer and finish slowly. I hope I can beat my half time from Hong Kong : 2:18 last week. It should be less hilly, even with the Diamond Head crater at km 11 to 13.
I slept well, I had a good breakfast, we’ll walk to the departure line this morning and do some shopping for Xmas. Take it easy before the effort. See you and thanks for your support.
